Question oil type or additive needed?

im in the process of replacing my oil pump, due to loss of pressure (read about it in the problem section).

anyway i was wondering if theres any additive you guys have come to like when it comes to higher mileage? <--117K and little puff of smoke on start-up. and what weight should i use, just factory recommended 5w30?

Re: oil type or additive needed?

That little puff of smoke on cold start up is leaking valve guide seals, just in case you were wondering...not a big deal...

I also use 10W30 on my 89. Im not sure how important it really is. Myself im not too worried, I change the oil at the start of every summer and thats all she gets!

use those "high mileage" oils... and even some of those additives that is supposed to raise compression back up. just go to advance, look at the oils and additives, read about them and determine what u wanna use...
