Re: please help ASAP
If your dumping the old ones don't be afraid to use a big, heavy hammer to knock it loose.

Re: please help ASAP
i find it easy by threading bolts into the special holes in the rotors to 'kick' the rotor out...usually if that doesn't work, sledgehammer does

Re: please help ASAP
A little heat and a lot of hammer... Never let me down yet. I've seen some rear rotors break some massive 3 jaw pullers though. Like 18" long jaws. Not sure if those poeple put any heat on it though... I really need an oxy/acetelene setup.

Re: please help ASAP
I think I might get one tomorrow. Dammit.
Might as well drag this completely OT now... I have my old TDO6H 20g back, its going on the 91 tomorrow. PRoblem is the WG flapper and arm were removed for use with an O2 mounted setup. Like the 2g, the 1g is using a manifold mounted setup (venting all 4 runners as well). Rather than weld to the housing, I typically just make a new "gasket" and dont cut out the hole for the WG passage. The last one was relatively thin mild steel, and it started to warp at the WG passage after many thousands of hard and hot miles. And that was an absolute bitch to fab up, I cant imagine how much of a pain in the ass thicker material will be. Hole saws just dont get through before they eat shit, and a grinder is so slow and sloppy. Some pnuematic nibblers might be worth looking into. Anyone ever try the Fisher Price "My First Cutting Torch" mapa and oxy cylinder setup? It was relatively cheap at Lowes IIRC, and for the limited use it will get over the next year or so may may it worthwhile. A full blown torch setup would be nice but after making this piddly little block off plate it will collect dust for the next year while I waste my life trying to build a house. Hardly worth the expense.

As for the torch, I bought mine from sears, it was about $350 ($199 for the kit and $149 for the tanks) or around there and it is completely portable. I dont use it enough to get a huge one, I just bought it to get me by and cause its portable! |

A little more on topic, there's a great writeup here on how to get the old rotor off. It's a little more eloquent: http://vfaq.com/mods/BrakeRotors.html Not that I'm not a fan of my mallet, but I'd be a little nervous wacking the hell out of a wheel with the car off the ground.
