shifter knob

i have a manual 02 alero and was wondering if anyone knew how to replace the shift knob? i've tried a number of things and i can't get it off

try turning counterclockwise thats how most of them come off, i dont know about the alero though. it may take some pressure but it should come off that way

I think there is a special "key" needed to get the knob off. I remember this when I installed my XM radio. I had there is a "pin" that needed to be pulled out.

My memory is serving me poorly. I am going to look to see if I still have the info on it and will post back.

I thought the pin only existed on the shift knob for the automatic, but then again, I have the auto....

I have the opposite problem, my 2001 Alero's knob just popped off one day. Just play with it, I guess. Any ideas on how to replace my knob?
