auto trans 5.0 ..how to tow
Is it ok to tow a 91 5.0 auto trans with a tow dolly leaving the rear wheels rolling on the ground, or should the rear wheels go in the dolly leaving the front wheels on the ground?

Re: auto trans 5.0 ..how to tow
i would take out the drive shaft and plug the transmission so you don't leak fluid. imo

Quote:
Dollies are that set of 4 little tires on 2 axles that goes underneath the wheels that are on the ground. This allows the car to be towed without any car tires rolling on the ground. Do not tow an auto trans car with the drive wheels turning, unless you remove the driveshaft, (which is a pain in the ass) The best and safest way is to place the front wheels in the wheel lift and slide a set of dollies under the rear or disconnect the driveshaft. You can lift the rear end with the wheel lift and have the front tires roll on the ground. This is a bit dangerous because if the steering wheel shifts, the front end can hop sideways into other traffic. So you MUST tie off the steering wheel, so it will NOT move. Do not rely on the ignition lock for the steering wheel. |
