AC and MPG

Everybody tells me that AC drinks gas. I recently drove without AC and cranked my window down. The result seem to be better milage.

Does anyone know the exact numbers of how much gas is used to power the AC?

I'm going to post some figures later.

Regards,
DC

It depends on the vehicle. In a car with good aerodynamics, the increased drag and turbulance from open windows can largely (if not completely) offset MPG savings from foregoing the AC. For a rolling brick like the TB, the effect is probably negligable.
