6x9 install problem!!!!!!!

hey guys
i have a 99 malibu and am trying to install some infinity reference 6x9 9603i speakers. i am having a problem fitting them into the slots in the rear deck for them... they seem to too big in the back part of the speaker

(I am referring to the sides of the speakers (the black bars on the sides long ways).

these seem to get stuck on the long blue sides here (this is a picture of the rear deck of the malibu without any speaker):

I cannot force them in at all, has anyone else run into this problem ?? any ideas of what i can do.....

i was thinking of either putting some spacers on top (which would suck cause then i couldnt hide the speakers under the grills) or use some kinda steel cutter and peeling back the metal alittle bit ( i dont think it needs much room to get in there)

any ideas?
thanks guys

i think your best bet would be to cut or file away some of the metal that stuff is pretty thin

Re: 6x9 install problem!!!!!!!

i had the same problem buddy. don't waste ur time cutting. just get some pliers, grab the metal lip, and start bending the stuff straight down all the way around. its alot quicker, and it doesn't do any damage.
