Straight pipes

I have a 1991 3.8l v6 sc, It has a dual exhaust setup, and tonight i was burning out, and in an attempt to turn around and leave quickly, i backed into a step with my low exhaust pipe. it bent right at the muffler, so i am considering chopping out my mufflers and putting in chrome straights, Inspection is not an issue, but im wondering how will this sound? any opinions? i dont want it to sound like a POS car with a leaky exhaust, Thanks-Gip

Hey man, well i never heard no mufflers on a supercharged car before... But really, how bad can it sound..?

I have a 95 4.6 and it sounded much better then NOTHING AT ALL. Atleast it made my car actually sound like a v8. Considering you have a blower. i think it might sound great...btw, don't spend big bucks for all chrome tips, cause i bet you'll srape them up again, like i did mine.

PS, when i took my mufflers off, and weighed both of them on a bathroom scale, they had a combined weight of like 21lbs....the tips i put on where only 2 lbs each. Not too much weight, but every little bit helps, especially on my bird, which is like 3700lbs i bet.

Re: Straight pipes

Another tip, MAKE SURE they are secure. I have a 1/4 inch bolt/nut setup holding my straights on-which are already slipped on the exhaust about 3/4 of an inch. Don't just put on U bolts cause even if you use loctite they always come loose.

Re: Straight pipes

Thats pritty much how i had my 3.2 running for a while, and it didnt sound to bad. I had a few people (with an untrained ear) thinking that it was a v8.
