Arrow CRX Rear Seat

I think this has been asked once but I'm wondering what you guys think. I"m thinking about putting a back seat in my car for those occasions when I need to carry 3 or 4 people (which come up sometimes)...a lot of people say that's it's way uncomfortable in the back of the CRX, and I've sat back there myself and it is a bit, but the thing people forget is that storage compartment is where the seat "buckets" into, so you get 3-4" more of headroom and leanback space. I've had 4 people in my car on one occasion (in fact 6 but that was only to see if I could ) and it seems like the suspension handled it fine, a bit sluggish on the pedal though. I know it's not totally legal, but the time I had someone back there, a police officer was behind me and he did not think twice about it. Also i've heard that the seatbelts if installed correctly work fine. So putting legality aside, what is the group's opinion of the rear seat in the CRX?

Legality issue-The crx didn't pass the crash rating testing for the rear seats hence the seats were not released on US crx's.So as for actually be used daily, i would highly frown on it an fear for your life buddy. Now if you are like me and going for that JDM look, then i would saw get them as an accesory.I'm waiting to buy mine since i'me trying for the whole JDMish look.

Re: CRX Rear Seat

Not to mention u honestly cant even carry anyone larger than a child back there anyways... Theres no foot room at all... And its just not safe... So as the above post, for astetics, its good if thats what your going for... But as far as functionality, just sell the CRX and buy an EF hatch...

Re: CRX Rear Seat

i have the rear seats in my crx and.........PLEASE ppl do not hate on this, my kids fit fine back there. I dont want to hear everybody saying im an idoiot or worse. I have the seatbelts installed and everything bolted in place. I am saving money for an EVO and just cant do anything else right now. I have even put 2 full size adults in trhe back. I noticed my suspension was a little sloppy but not too much. The cops have seen me and they have not pulled me over yet. I live in AZ.

Re: CRX Rear Seat

in arizona only people in the front are required to wear seatbelts, so that might be one reason. I see what you guys are saying though, I guess I'll have to think twice about it :S

Adding extra weight for no reason but to have the JDM look is really smart.

The CRX is only rated to hold 400lbs. So if you figure in 2 adult males plus an amp and subs you've got it. If you want to blow your struts though by all means do it. I can see how little kids would fit. I've had a 9 year old in the back of my CRX briefly and I still fucking bottomed out...

BTW, having owned a 2+2 car (944) it's just a pain to even try put more people in the back.

Re: CRX Rear Seat

i fit a total of 6 people in my NX2000...dunno how

but for the JDM look...i'd put it in there...but for riding people...other than toddlers...i wouldn't

if you need a back seat...then get a hatch

most asians are smaller then americans, and if youve seen them seats it doesnt really look functional(barely any room for your feet and head). i think you can probally put a child seat in there and it would be fine but for actually seating adults it would be unsafe.

Re: CRX Rear Seat

The rear seat should be for looks only never for someone back there, not even a child.
