another air bag light and more

I have a 1999 Windstar LX at start up the air bag light comes on and flashes 3 times then 2 times repeats that sequence several times then stays on, the horn button has quit working and when the break peddle is depressed a light comes on in the lower right hand portion of the dash panel, that looks like an upside down light bulb with rays coming off of it and an exclamation mark in the middle of it…. What’s going on here?

Re: another air bag light and more

The air bag light is flashing a code. You need to get the meaning of that code. Parhaps someone here knows the codes

The horn and airbag could be related since one airbag is in the steering column and that is where the horn is. The horn most likely either has a break in the wiring, the switch is broken, the clockspring is defective or a fuse is blown. I don't remember if the airbag wiring goes through the clockspring but if so that couldbe the common thread.

I think the brake light is indicating that you are low on fluid or the pressure switch is in the master cylinder has noticed a differential between the two systems.
