bad gas mileage

I am very anal about checking up on my car. evey time i get gas i keep track of my mileage. i normally am getting anywhere from 26-32 MPG. (depends on if i am driving like an asshole, which i often do) i have gotten over 40 mpg on a road trip one time!!

last time i put gas i my car though i was calculated only 22 mpg!!! just put a new air filter on not to long ago and i always change my oil and top everything off.

this leads me to believe that i may need to change my fuel filer and or reset my ecu (but i did that not to long ago when fixing soime radio stuff).

any imput

only mods are a SRI and wire set.

my SRI did the same thing: mpg went to shit when i replaced the filter
but just last month my car took me from Los Angeles to Las Vegas on 1/2 a tank.

fuel filters are cheap, but if you've replacd it anytime in recent history, then there's no reason to suspect that (over things like driving conditions, and habits).

i'd say wait and see what you get on your next 3-5 tanks of gas before you start looking for a problem, especially if nothing else it wrong with it.

Re: bad gas mileage

my SRI hasn't hurt my mpg, i have had it for a while now.
BUT i do not know when the fuel filter was changed last. (i know it has been at least 10,000 miles) that is why i am a little i had it in question

Do you know when the spark plugs were last changed? That may be it.

Re: bad gas mileage

I know tire pressure is important to gas mileage, but it wont ever make you lose 8 miles to the gallon.
