Wipers are jerking, and are not running smooth.
What could be the cause of the wipers chugging, and jerking? The wipers do work, but they just don't run smooth across the windsheild?
Any help would be appriciated. 1 other thing? I need to install a handle bar so the wife and kids can get into the truck. What is the installation for these bars, do they go in between the door and side window (extended cab)? There seems to be about 4" of meat there to attach these to. Thanks Kirk |

I would clean the windshield carefully with a mild abrasive like Ajax or Comet to get all of the oil, wax and road grime off. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water and install a new set of blades. That should offer you some relief.

Re: Wipers are jerking, and are not running smooth.
Depending on the year. There is a TSB (technical service bullitin) to replace the wiper module. (underhood on firewall) to get rid of the problem.

jtedford,
1994 GMC Sierre, 454, 4x4 ext cab long box How does this recall stuff work? Do I just drive up to the dealer, and say this was a recall on the wipers and i want it fixed for free? |

Re: Wipers are jerking, and are not running smooth.
From what I remember yes that truck applies. U will need to check with your dealer first though. it has been a few years since I worked for GM. From what I remember it is not a recall. simply a bulletin to help the technicians find the most common problems. If for some reason they say your truck will not apply. next time they are jerky or inop just pop the hood and hit the module with your fist. chances are the wipers will begin to work properly again. You can also change the module yourself it is easy and cheap. hope that helps.
