painting the engine bay

what kind of paint should I use to paint the engine bay?

Use satin black. You don't want it glossy!

I more or less meant what kind of paint should I use, like for the paint to be able to look good and survive in that environment

Any name brand rattle can you find in an auto parts store.

The most important is prep work. Degrease, then cleaning off the degreaser. Elbow work plain and simple. Castol purple spray cleaner, oven cleaner, liquid landury detergent, lots of hot water.

Tackle the rust. Spray on rust neutralizers. Sand everything to a dull finish no need to go bare metal.
