Bad Idle
Ok I got some codes outs they are 14,34,44. Now I looked at the Trouble code info and gives me Map sensor voltage and and coolant temp sensor over 275 for 2 seconds and the Os sensor was under in volts, HELP! what is going on with my car before I sink a fortune in it.
Thanks |

Replace the coolant temp sensor ($7 at Advance), disconnect the battery for a minute and reconnect. Start & drive the car and note if the check engine light comes on. If it does, pull the codes again and post.

Re: Bad Idle
Maybe, maybe not. Morley knows his shit though so it'll at least fix one thing then probably help narrow down anything else that's wrong with the car.

On a MAP based system the CTS plays a very large role in fueling. If the CTS is giving wrong readings, the MAP sensor will appear to be wrong to the ECM and it will be using the wrong fueling table which can cause the O2 sensor to report being out of the 14.7 optimal air/fuel that the ECM shoots for. It may be reading correctly, but with the temp sensor giving the wrong readings, the ECM will report the O2 readings out of the normal (which they are if the fueling is way off).
Start with fixing the the partthat controls fueling the most, then see what (if anything) that fixed. |

OK I replaced the Temp sensor cleared the codes and they all went away except code 12 which keeps flashing, I also had to replace the rotor and dist cap, the kid who had it didnt have the rotor all the way pushed down and it messed the Graphite post up, it runs a lot better but I have noticed I have a cracked flexplate and I might have to set the timing. So what is code 12? thanks for the info on the temp sensor Ira |
