Shifter hot!!!

Recently I made a post about the correct tranny fluid for my Getrag 5 speed. A few people told me I needed to run ATF in it, so I drained the 85 W - 140 and put in ATF. Now when I drive for over 30 minutes my shifter is getting very hot to the touch so bad my wife cant drive it. I use digital thermometer and shot the tranny, it is running 200* on the case. And the shifter is running 120* on the knob. What is wrong with this picture??/ It wasnt that hot with the heavier oil, just couldnt shift when cold. I did have the tranny opened up and checked out before I installed it so I dont believe it is a internal problem. Should I drain again and perhaps go to a synthetic oil? BTW does the rear end use 85W 140 weight oil??
