1993 Pontiac Sunbird..PLZ HELP US !

This car has always been very reliabe and that is why my sister has kept it, but has a new vehicle that she routinely drives. The problem is that the car has been sitting under carport for about 6 months w/o being cranked up and now we need it to replace another vehicle and cannot get it started..We have bumped the gas tank, changed the plugs, tested the fuel relay and sprayed starter fluid in the carb..but still it will not crank, it turns over but will not start..Plz help, it will be greatly appreciated !!...ThanksPLZ HELP US !!

Of course there are two things you need to make an engine run. Fuel and spark from the ignition. You need to check to see if you have both. If you can hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key then it should be working properly however sediment may have blocked the fuel filter and will not allow enough fuel to the injectors. You may want to replace the fuel filter. If you said it will not start with starter fluid then the problem must be on the ignition side. I would check the ignition module, if you have a distrubuterless ignition which I believe you have then the module is located under the coils. Also the crank position sensor may have gone bad do to oil infiltration and will not allow spark to happen. If you have a 4 cylinder with a timing belt it may have broken and that may be the problem as well.
I would approach this systematically and eliminate the obvious by checking spark and fuel then proceeding to find out what may be stopping one or the other. Once you find out the problem is solved. Good Luck!
