Hey Just picked up my 98 Contour SVT on sat... 48,000 miles on it :-) but yeah... it needs an exhaust - anyone know what kind i should get? suggestions? what bout cold air intake? would it help? i'm open to any ideas let me know

trubendz is the best bang for the buck exhaust system you can buy. Bassani, Bosal, Borla, etc make exhaust systems as well.
Most people go with a K&N RU-3530 air filter, with a MAF adapter to fit, and then just make a homemade heatshield. That seems to be the most popular choice. Honestly, I see that working just as well or better as a "cold" air intake.
