96 deville slow to shift into drive

When my 96 deville warms up and I shift into drive, it sometimes takes about 3 seconds to engage. It always does and then works fine. What would cause the hesitation? Shifting into reverse is always instant as is drive when cold. Any ideas what would cause this?

I just posted with a detailed description of my problems. Is that the same issue? It's a thread called "'91 Transmission"
