From 4x4parts.com:
"We now have new ring and pinion sets available for the Xterras and Frontiers. For 31" tires we have 4.875 ring and pinion for the V-6 at $450.00 per end. For 32"-33" tires we have 5.142 ring and pinion for the V-6. The 5.142 ring and pinion for V-6 are $450.00 for the front and $625.00 for the rear. This includes the necessary pieces and modifications for fitting this R&P into the rear of the Frontier/Xterra with V-6. These have been tested on the Xterra. They work very well with front and rear ARB air lockers." Brent |

row, row, row your gears...
Yeah, going up long (mountain) grades, I do have to shift around a bit, but thankfully I have a 5 speed, so at least I can find a good gear. I would hate to think how my highway fuel economy would get worse with higher gearing, though.

The 5.142 rear set apparently requires some modifications to fit, hence the extra cost.
