Installing Infinity Powered Subwoofer (Basslink)

Guys, i really need soem help here. I have an Infinity basslink powered sub I just bought for my car. I am curious if i can hook this thing up by myself. I know a little about car audio and am great at hiding wires, blah blah. My question is it going to be somewhat easy for me to do by myself? I know where the firewall holes are located so i think i can do this . What all do i need? I have 8 gauge power wire and ground wire. I believe i also need remote (where do i run remote?) and also where do i have to run the rca cables? Thanks..

well, i know you have to run a thick wire from the battery to the basslink, and ground the basslink, and then you have to run speaker wire from the head unit to the basslink, and i believe thats all you do.

In a nutshell, yea Hotshot's got it.

Connect head unit to sub/amp via RCAs, then one wire to ground the sub (in the trunk or wherever you're putting the sub), wires through the firewall to the fuse (mounted in engine bay) and battery and I had to run another wire back to the head unit and splice it in so that when I turn the radio off the amp goes off too. Nothing too hard. Took me and my uncle a few hours the first time (but we had to mount the sub in the box, mount the amp, etc) but then I helped my friend put his in and it only took us about an hour total.

Re: Installing Infinity Powered Subwoofer (Basslink)

So i have to:
1. run power wire to battery
2. run ground in trunk
3.run speaker wire from amp into back seat speakers
4.run rcas into the back of my cd player?

No "remote" wire necessary?

You don't need to connect any wires into the rear speakers.
Ok hold on, I just went out and took some pics for you. Gimme a min to upload them and I'll try and explain some more.

Ok, yes, you run a power line to the sub fuze and battery in the engine bay. Another wire to ground the sub in the trunk. Your RCAs to your head unit and another wire into the wiring harness of your head unit to make the amp turn off when the radio turns off. This last one was the hardest part. Basically, for you I would say you'd almost just have to use trial and error for this part. My uncle used a volt meter and some other stuff to figure out which wire of the wiring harness was the power line.
Look at the pics for some more clarification: (keep in mind, everything isn't going to be exactly the same on your setup )

The RCAs plug into the front of my amp and I ran them underneath the amp....

On the back of the amp we ahve the power wire (red wire), the ground wire (red one with black cover) and the wire to the head unit (blue wire). Plus the RCAs...

I grounded the sub right there and then ran the power and other wire down teh right side of the car (under seats, under door panel, etc). FOr this, I then drilled another hole through the fire wall on the passenger side (don't knick a fuel line like I did ) so that the power wire would come into the engine bay right by the battery. The RCAs, I ran down the drivers side of the car.

Power wire come up through the firewall and engine bay on the left, throuth the fuze...

And connects to the battery.

Hope this helps. It's actually really simple, except for the one wire into the head unit wiring harness power line. Sorry I can't be more help with that. Good luck.

I don't remember exactly. I'm pretty positive I didn't have to buy anything other than the components and wiring kit. Give me a few minutes and I'll run out and pull the panels off my center console and see what I can find. What kind of head unit do you have?

Honestly I'm not sure. My only experiences have always been with aftermarket head units that didn't need the converter. Sorry man.

Re: Installing Infinity Powered Subwoofer (Basslink)

Holy cow.. so much over a simple little system hook up.

First off.. the remote censor hooks up to your CD player. Runs from your cd player to the amplifier..

I grounded my system there too im2fast.. good connection.

Its simple.. everyone has given steps but Ill just tell ya what I did.

First off, ripped out my cd player.. Hooked up the RCA's and the Remote wire together. Tied the Remote around the RCA's so it would be easier to run the wires through the dash and hiding them. Ran it down on the right side, through the only hole my hand could get to.. then up around all the cables above the passangers side and over around the passanger inside door light. Ran it back down through the carpet along side there.. then have it go around the little bend there where the back seat forms.. up under the back seat (hides perfectly) and having it come out of that little velcro thing for that flappy thing in the trunk.

Power cable I found a way through with the right front fender and through the door passage to be able to get that through, and then run to the back with my RCA'a and Remote.

Ground was in the same place as Im2Fast

Hooked all the speakers and power and remote to the amp.. then ran speaker wire to the subs.. and.. I got myself a system.

Sounded like shit until I realized I hooked a speaker in backwards.. lol
