Straight through glass pack designed mufflers!
Is this kind of muffler better than a straight pipe it?? i'm afraid if i take my straight pipe off and put this muffler on it will take that hollow sound of a v8 out and muffle it? it's a 3.8L . I was also thinking of just putting on one of those hollow Boom Tubes where the muffler was, like a 3 or 4 incher, what do you think of that?. Also does a straight through glass pack kind of muffler increase pressure, helping force exhaust gases out increasing horsepower?
Opinions would be apreciated!! thanx dudes ! |

Re: Straight through glass pack designed mufflers!
Glass pack mufflers are almost as free flowing as a straight pipe. The difference is negligable, and likely wil not produce any measurable reduction in power. They do reduce the noise level a bit, and will alter the tone a bit. V-type engines (V6, V8) sound great with glass packs. Inline engines, especially 4 cyl. sound a bit too 'ricey' with glass packs (IMHO)

Re: Straight through glass pack designed mufflers!
I Have A 93 Chevy Lumina 3.1 V6, Im Looking To Get New Muffler. What Kind Of Performance Muffler Would Be The Best Pick. One Person Told Me To Go To Summit And Get A Muffler, However I Dont Know What Kind To Get. I Want Something Thats Going To Increase The Performance Without Having To Replace All Of The Pipes. The Pipes Are In Excellent Shape. Iwas Also Going To Get A Racing Cat Converter. Please Help, Looking To Do This Pretty Soon. Thanx
