Re: What do you think about this engine?

Yeah, but if he's being honest, look at all the stuff he's done to the engine, hence the higher price.

Re: What do you think about this engine?

That guy says he spent $10,000 on this engine, and it makes at best 85hp over stock (he claims 250-275hp)...that doesn't seem right.

...unless he means 275hp at the wheels. But I'm assuming he means at the crank, since it's "Never used" it couldn't have been dyno'ed at the wheels.

Re: What do you think about this engine?

Could be estimated power at the wheels. And 85 hp is quite a bit for our cars.

Re: What do you think about this engine?

I'm not saying 275whp isn't impressive for a 4-banger, but I don't think he means whp, I'm pretty sure he means at the crank. Quote from the ad...

"JG Honda Prelude VTEC Race engine 2.2 260+HP!!
The ultimate all-motor 2.2 Vtec Prelude motor makes 260"

It says absolutely nothing about "estimated hp at the wheels".

I'm not saying he didn't spend that much, I'm just saying that's almost pitiful - 85hp for $10,000 = over $1000 for every 10hp he gained.

Re: What do you think about this engine?

The NA route to power isn't cheap, that's why so many people go turbo. I'd say it's entirely possible.

The price seems kind of high for a motor alone without a tranny. Inquire more about the motor. Ask what compression he's running and what kind of cams he put in there. It says he upgraded the valvetrain, but no mention of cams. Odd.

Re: What do you think about this engine?

yeah if he replaced the pistons he would prolly do like 8.5.1 just so you can go turbo but if he did 7.2.1 you could boost as much as you want on that engine. in the eclipse forums people are running 11s with there stock engines in the GSTs and alls they have to upgrade is the fuel system. this guy built it for a turbo theres no way someone would spend 10 grand for 85 hp. This guy had plans you can tell.

Maybe so, but I doubt he'd make 275hp on 8.5:1 pistons without a turbo.
