Obx
Hey Altima Owners,
I just installed my OBX header and there is alot of rubbing going on. I tried to shave the header flange down, but I believe that there might still be an exhaust leak. I do not recommend this product unless you are willing to shave your block 3/4-1/2" down. Also since the exhaust tubes are less bent then the stock ones for a smoother airflow, they stick out farther and dont allow the alternator to go all they way back, so it's hard to put the belt back on(I knew about this one, but didnt know about the header rubbing against the block). Also, the second mistake I made was buying the exhaust and header form two different places. I figured since they said "direct bolt on" that they would replace the stock parts to the exact length. But the Greddy St Tsudo exhaust paired with the OBX header and downpipe ends up being about a foot short. So modification is needed there too. I recommend the Hotshot or Stillen header if your not as broke as me, and the order an exhaust that fits accordingly. Just giving the heads up if your looking for performance. John

Re: Obx
You have nothing to loose by searching OBX contact us, and send them an email. Maybe they already know about the problem and can tell you the easiest way to correct the issues. Ask them if every set of headers they make has the same problems you are encountering or is there something wrong with your set? It is possible they will ship you a set that fits if you agree to tell everybody what a great product and service OBX offers. I can't imagine anyone wanting to purchase headers that don't fit out of the box. Modifying the exhaust to reach the header could be an ongoing problem since they are stainless steel. Is the woven vibrasorber section missing?

Re: Obx
I already e-mailed the supplier since I could not find a direct link to OBX. What they said was to "shave off some of the block" to fix the problem. And it states when selling them "I cannot confirm which years and models as it seems to vary but only a small number of my customers have had this problem. Please do your own research." So that is stupid of OBX, they should make a list of years/models they rub against so the customers know they have to spend alot of money/time modifying. And they said you might have to shave the block SLIGHTLY, but in order for it to clear right so there is no leak, I would've had to shave of almost 1/2" off the block. I found the problem with the short exhaust, it is a cat-back and I didnt have a catalytic converter. And yes it does have the woven part, so no problem there, im just gonna get the exhaust extended and welded and run no cat. But still I was just trying to give a heads up, because people like me who are going to school and trying to work on their own cars have very little time for things not fitting properly, because then it takes time to send and recieve e-mails and find out how to fix the problem etc. It wouldnt be that bad if it was a project car, but in reality most non-turbo four door family sedan rice-burners are non-wealthy kids who use them to get to school and as everyday drivers, like me.

Re: Obx
Yeah, I'm not going to shave the block, im just going to have to wait until I can afford a Stillen or Hotshot header, but that will be awhile, and I dislike my exhaust leak.

Re: Obx
What would I do about the down.flex pipe though? I have the OBX downpipe on tight now and that flange is off too.

Re: Obx
Cool, will the 2000 Altima header fit my 94 though? I know 93-97 are the same, but I dont know about your year. Also how does it look? I dont mind if it used and discolored, but I dont want rust, at least alot. And the last question, when will it be available?
Thanks, John

Re: Obx
Shoot, a couple weeks might be too long. Let me know when you take it off. The sooner the more likely i'll buy it.
