Question 1995 Impreza Question

Hi im a new user,

I have a 1995 Subaru Impreza L AWD with a EJ18 NA in it. I am very tired of the low HP i am getting. I would like to know if a EJ20TT would fit in this car, and if I would need a new Tranny. Even better if someone could tell me if a EJ25T could fit in it too. That would be better. If anyone knows where a good place i can get either one of those motors that would be great too.

Thanks Jonman24680

Re: 1995 Impreza Question

Both motors should bolt in with minor modification and some other parts, however the TT will have to be a T b/c I beleive one of them hits the brake booster. And yes, a transmission upgrade would not be a bad idea..lol

Re: 1995 Impreza Question

I wouldn't risk going as big as a 2.5T into the 1.8, you'll only create even more problems down the road when the rest of the car starts to fall to pieces.

im going with the ej20t swap, i also have a 1995 impreza 1.8l only mine is just fwd. if you do the single turbo swap 2.0 you wil need new crossmembers to clear the downpipe. you can get the crossmember off of about any turbo model subaru. you will also need some more stuff like e.c.u ect....
