Problems?
I was wondering what problems i should expect to run into if turboing a carburated engine. It will only be running 1-2 psi, where can i get a wastegate to actuate that low? Are the internal wastegates adjustabel to set that low? Any info would be great...

It goes something like this--- 1-3 pounds boost-------"well I see I'm getting boost" (while flicking the guage with your finger to see if it's working.) 4-7 pounds boost-------"OK here it goes" 8-12 pounds boost------"Whoo-hoo!" 13-18 pounds boost-----"Holy Shit!" 18 pounds is as high as my car goes, but you get the picture. |

Re: Problems?
15psi from a T25=That was 15psi???? Shoulda brought my cd player.
Go for a 4psi setup man. Tial makes 4.xpsi springs. Even on a go kart, 1-2psi isn't gonna make a whole lot of difference. The turbo prolly isn't even efficient that low so power output will further be effected. If I were you, I'd rebuild it because its so easy to rebuild. Less hassle once you boost, ect. Prolly wanna look into adjusting fuel too.

Re: Problems?
rebuild the engine or turbo? because im already rebuilding the turbo, and i can get a whole engine for 90$ so im not that worried about it...i could live with 4psi though.

Re: Problems?
Pistons and such are really cheap for small engines. So is machining. Good learning as well.

Re: Problems?
WHen you boost a car there is about a 3% rule....that is for every pound of boost, you gain 3% over stock power.
For what a turbo kit costs, you'd be better off getting headers and other cheaper more effective parts. Otherwise use more boost.

Re: Problems?
..........do you understand what i am doing here? i picked up a small garrett turbo along with 7 others that i am rebuilding. The garrett that is really small looks to be like a T2 or something. Its very small, and i have a go kart in my garage....go kart +micro turbo = lots of fun on a cheap project....

Re: Problems?
How are you compensating for the extra air....are you using a larger carb....or are you just leaving it alone?? I have a go kart w/ a little Briggs and Straton engine on it and i thought this sounded like fun.
The first post i had....i didn't really read the whole thing beforehand....sorry.
