tell me you aren't going to install a 700R4!!??
I used to work in a tranny shop. the 700R4 made my boss rich. they are total junk. he would reccomend removing the O.D. and it then becomes a typical hydromatic 350, which is still junk, but less so than a 700R4 if you must install that boat anchor, at least put in a shift-kit for heavy duty use, such as RV's ect. |

Re: 700r4 Trans
The 700 will give satisfactory service and at least 250,000 miles if you:
1. Build it with HD parts like multi-surface clutches (6 to 9 narrow discs instead of 3 thick ones); consult your best, most experienced local trans builder 2. Install a real ATF cooler in front of the radiator, size dependent on local temperatures (Minnesota or Arizona?) and whether or how much/often you tow 3. Use Red Line D4 ATF (about $10/qt) for longest life, or Mobil 1 as absolute minimum |
