Adding daytime running light module

I've just bought a US '98 windstar (without DRL), and need to install DRL to register it in Canada. I'm wondering if I can just go to a junkyard and pull the DRL module from another van. Do the US windstars have the same harness as the canadian ones with a plug that I can just plug a module into or is there more to it than that? Also, where is it located? Is it on the steering column? Any help would be appreciated

Re: Adding daytime running light module

This is a new angle but...............

Back in the years prior to DRL in Canada Canadian tire sold a kit to make a car a DRL type. It was considered safer but not government mandated.

Basically it was a relay that provided power to the headlamp system whenever it was energised. The low voltage of the relay was wrapped around the outside of the high tension wire and using inducatance it energised the relay when the car was running. I don't know how it would work with out a conventional ignition rortr but maybe one of the sparkplug cables would be good enough.

I am sure if you search online you can find one for sale in the US or maybe even in Canada for owners with older vehicles.

Just providing option B.

Try this site. Looks like it can be done very inexpensively:
