Unhappy certified pre-owned vehicle-inspection

HI, This is a General question to anyone who has purchased a used vehicle at a Dodge/Chrysler dealership. I have recently purchased a 2001 grand caravan at a local Chrysler dealership. Before I signed the final paper work, I asked the saleman to see the "peace of mind" bs. meticulus inspection form. (120 point inspection). I was under the impression that every qualified used vehicle was to go through this procedure. The salesman has never seen this (3yrs selling cars). Is this common to other dealerships.........or most of them? I did not give them the ceritfed cheque for the vehicle until they completed the form. The next buisness day I returned to the dealership to see that the form was completed. I am quite sure that "PEACE OF MIND" ALL OUR USED VEHICLES ARE THOUROUGHLY INSPECTED DOES NOT HAPPEN!!!!!!Could any one else shed some light on this topic? And honestly How thourough of a inspection do you think my van got? Thanks

Re: certified pre-owned vehicle-inspection

Most of the car companies sell what they call certified used cars. This is a car that has been gone over by a technician and certified to have no mechanical problems. The dealership will usually state that the car is certified and will offer a good warranty with these vehicles. Cars of this stature are often higher priced than most used cars.
The majority of used cars on the dealer lots are not certified and are usually sold with a limited 30 day warranty. These are the cheaper cars and are usually the ones people purchase when money is tight. You were correct in asking for the inspection on the vehicle but it probably didn't get you anything other than a signed paper stating that the vehicle was checked. If the problems were major the dealership probably fixed them but most minor problems they identified were left alone.
