3.0L oil pan gasket
How difficult is it to change the oil pan gasket on a 3.0L engine ('97 Grand Voyager)? Any hints/tips would also be appreciated!

Re: 3.0L oil pan gasket
It is not that difficult. Drain oil-remove oil pan bolts-remove oil pan and gasket- clean the surface-reinstall pan with new gasket-refill with oil.

Timd....I hope you did not rush out and get the gasket yet!!!
Sandokana's advice was short a few steps. Here is the process if you want to attempt it. A) Raise Vehicle, Remove Splash Pan, Drain Oil and install new filter.... now the fun stuff B) Unbolt exhust C) Support engine/transaxle with an engine hoist D) Unbolt all motor mounts E) Raise engine to give clearance to remove pan F) Remove Oil Pan, Scrape old gasket off G) Unbolt and remove the oil pickup tube and screen H) Replace gasket on flange of the oil pickup tube H) Use tap to clean all bolt holes I) Install new new gasket and reverse the above steps to reinstall everthing. |
