Has 112000 miles on it. replaced waterpump and dexcool. a really good running car. but seems to run hot before the fans kick in. goes past 3 lines after the 200 temperature gauge, fans kick on then goes backk to 200. any suggestions to keep it running cooler in the texas heat would be appreciated. thanks.

Re: 2000 grandam gt- running a bit hot
Well, outside of some trapped air in the system that hasn't bled out yet, try to drop in a lower temp. opening thermostat.
U can get therm.'s in various heat ranges [opening temp.'s]. Be aware, though, getting to the housing can be a real pain in the , well, you know. |

2000 grandam gt- running a bit hot
well the best thing I can tell you is that I am having similar issues right now with my 95 GA SE and I went with a 195 thermostat and it seems to do better...dummy that put it in had like a 225 in it or somthing but beware as the last poster said...if your're going to do this yourself your definately in store for having a few "words" as I call it with your car...therm location is a hastle I dont even know why they have a dern therm housing if they are not going to put the therm. in there lol had to change that too..but on mine the therm was located underneathe the exhaust manifold...let me know if anything I said helps..later on..

Re: 2000 grandam gt- running a bit hot
Also, it could be as simple as a good flush and clean of your cooling system. obviously you changed coolant, but how long did the cooling system stay without a backflush, prior to your prob.? Also, somewhat likely the temp. sensor getting weak
