noise in engine

i just bought a 1993 grand am there is a funny noise in the engine. some one said it sounded like a car out of oil but it has oil and a new filter it is a rubbing/ticking noise.... everyone ive had listen has a guess but know one is sure..

What part of the engine is it coming from. Have you ruled out things outside the engine like belts and belt driven accessories. An engine out of oil will screech so your not likely to misdiagnose it. Ticking coming from inside the engine would suggest loose/worn valve lifters or associated parts.
