Re: Need a posi rear

s10 would work so long as you made sure you got it out of a 7.5 rear instead of an 8.5 rear. or you could nab the posi carrier out of a third or fourth gen camaro rear. they bolt right in. Only catch is that if you get the unit out of a 89 and up youll need to grab the axles as well. in 89 they switched from 26 to 28 spline axles and your older axles wont fit in the newer differential carrier.

Re: Need a posi rear

Note this is an 81 Camaro, second gen car with the 8.5 rear. S10 rears are about six inches narrower so the whole unit won't work, and the internal carrier is smaller, no help. Third gen rears are coil spring mounted, smaller carrier, no help. Either hit the junkyards and look for a posi, both wheels turn in same direction with driveshaft off or trans in neutral, or buy a new posi carrier and have it installed. Not a low dollar way to do this unless you get real lucky at a yard.

Re: Need a posi rear

as far as i have always heard, camaros didnt come with the 8.5in rear in any generation, id have to see some sort of documentation to believe otherwise.
