Question 996 Shift knob replacement

I've got a 1999 996 and want to replace the factory shift knob with a nicer one (colored Porsche crest, aluminum trim, etc).

All shift knobs I've ever dealt with just screw off. I can't get mine to budge & am afraid of bending or breaking something.

Can anyone help wiith how to remove a factory shift knob (mine is the type that appears to be one piece attached to the leather boot).

Thank you!!!
