I have a b16a in my ride, finally got it tuned up now i'm ready to move on. I caught a good deal on 17" rims on e bay so i went ahead and bought them.
How do 17's ride on a 90 hatch?? They come standard with 13" which is what i ride on now. If i keep 17's, will i lose power? handling? If i keep 17's what is the best tire size for it?? So far i've been reccommended 205/40/17. If i decide to sell the rims back on e bay, what size works well for the 90 hatch?? P.S. because i have spent a good amout of money taking care of my swap, i would rather have a smaller size wheel if that means keeping power. |

Re: I need some 17" wheel advice
Sell them and buy some 15's (16's at largest for performance). But if you decide to keep the 17's, get the right tire size so that your speedometer is accurate. I'm guessing (and this is a big guess because I'm not positive) that your stock tire size is 175/70/13 (because my stock '94 CX had that on them). So if that's correct, then the best size would be 205/35/17.

ditch the 17's and get some lightweight 15's IMO they look better too.

dont get any other tires. 205/40/17 are the largest that will fit without rubbing.
The changes in the spedo will be so slight MAYBE 1-2km off. Nothing to worry about. The other guys are right though. 16's should be the biggest if your going for speed. I love my 17's, if anything my next set of rims will be 18's. |

Re: I need some 17" wheel advice
I will agree, I've had 205/40/17's and they look great, and ride fine, but the difference in power compared to lightweight 15's is phenomenal. You loose a lot of low end power with big rims.
Just depends on what you want Looks=17" Power=15"/16" |

good info
thanks for the tips...Maybe i'll just hang onto the 17's and buy some used tires to check them out..I'll keep my 13's for the track..Problem is when your riding around on nice rims, other cars always want to test you, I got that b16 swap so i gotta represent on the streets for the 4th gen's

Re: I need some 17" wheel advice
i think 17's are a good size, you gotta think though if you put the 13's back on they are also very skinny so you lose traction anyway.

True, I'm not here promotin street racing, i'm just saying, its tempting to let it rip when these other cars roll up to you and start reving their engines. I' don't know where you guys are at, but in NJ i notice a lot of mustangs trying to show out, they got no respect for the import game.
