Re: should i remove the bed
Wrong forum, but the answer from easiest to hardest is
1 - cut a hole in the box (and have the piece that you cut out made into a cover) above the fuel pump, and big enough to remove it. This can of course be used to replace it easier in the future. 2 - raise the box, you can probably get away with tipping the box towards the filler side. 3 - And removing the box is the hardest, although really not that bad |

Re: should i remove the bed
You should check the fuel pressure before replacing the pump. Most Autozones will have a fuel pressure gauge as a loaner tool. You just pay for it, return it within 3 days and they'll give your money back. Did you ask them about a loaner tool or did you just look at the new ones?

Re: should i remove the bed
I took the bed off to replace my fuel pump took me about 2 Hours. I thought it was pretty easy and quick for never doing it before.

Re: should i remove the bed
You do not have to remove the bed ... unless you want too.
Remove the gas tank strap bolt and the (3) three bolts for the front support on the outside of the frame and drop the tank using a jack. There will be enough play in the fuel lines to lower it enough to undo the fuel line clamps. A tip I have done: replace the first 2'-0" of the hard fuel line from the tank along the frame forward to the front of the truck. Next time you need to remove the tanl you can undo the lines from in front of the tank instead of above it. Good luck trying to remove a full size bed without a bunch of friends to help you !!!!

Either way is fine, but this thread is 9 months old. Unless you need some extra info on the subject there is no need comment on it, which brings it to the top.
I don't mean to sound like an ass. It's just a board policy. |
