Question Cooling Fans '95 GP

Hello Group,

I have an operations question on a '95 GP. I was checking over the Sister-in-Law's GP. When I went to open the hood, the area there was hot to the touch--more so than I thought usual. So, restarted the engine and observed only the driver's side electric cooling fan running. Is this normal? I would think if one is running, then both should be? The wiring is buried into a large bundle and Haynes says nothing about this--other than how to test the motor. I took it out and it runs --so the fan is not the issue. The engine was definitely at operating temp at the time. Thanks for any thoughts.

either the fan only turns on when the ac is on... or it turns on when the engine starts to overheat.

The AC was on and there are 2 cooling fans. One fan was running --one was not.
