Is valve tap bad?
Okay, this should be my last thread posting, I've already posted enough. Really simple question: is valve tap bad? I've just noticed that after the engine warms up, I guess, you can hear a slight tapping noise coming from the driver side valve cover, my guess is that it's a valve tap and needs to be tightened down some. I'm going to slightly tighten them anyways, but I am curious, is valve tap bad?

It isn't too hard to adjust them, but it's messy. Remove Valve cover, run motor, back off nut until they tick, then re-tighten it until ticking stops, tighten another 1/2 turn. Only do 1 valve at a time and make sure that the oil is right up there before you start Look at the exhaust manifold and gasket first, you probably have a small leak causing the noise. |
