Need some help with starting my '96 Camaro

I have heard that these cars have problems with their coil packs. When I turn the key, the engine cranks. I can crank it for awhile and sometimes it will go, but most the time I have to do a 2nd crank. It usually always starts on the second crank. Do I have a bad coil pack?

Also, what cold air intakes are you guys using? I want to get a cheap one that is better then the stock intake.

Thanks!

-Kevin

I have a K&N intake system. Some others have SLP intakes, custom intakes... etc... around 200 for K&N and SLP

What engine do you have? I know that the LT1's have a lot of problems with the opti-spark ignition system they have not sure about the 3.8's though. When asking a question like this be sure to give us a lot of info about your car and application helps us help you...

Since you say you have coil packs, I assume you have a 3.8. Mine are fine, but a lot of people replace theirs with MSD products. I hear also to stay away from Accel. As for intakes, the only "cheap" one is to make your own home depot intake, but real CAIs cuda dude covered.

Was it raining or anything, or had it just rained, when the problems happened?

No, it wasn't raining when this happens. It is just so random, right now it seems to be working fine...

I have the same problem with the 3800II engine. It doesn't turn over on the first time. Takes a few cranks. After the first time it turns on just fine. *shrug* No clue honestly, mechanic said he had no idea whats up.
