Re: 18" wheels

They're a direct bolt-on....I've seen many DSMs with 18s that fit no problem.

would smaller or bigger rims be better for 1/4 mile time?

Bigger rims weigh more, your car goes slower. They'll fit, assuming you use the correct offset and profile. Off the top of my head, I have no idea what it is for a 1g, I'd recommend searching.

Each pound a rim weighs, multiply by four, to get all four corners. Now multiply by two or three, since wheels are rotating mass. If you buy rims only one pound lighter than stock, you're removing six pounds from the car. This is why people buy lightweight rims, and only ricers like me buy 18" rims

Keep in mind, 18's aren't as big on a 2g as they are on a 1g.

For quarter mile times, stick with 17's. If you're serious, have a set of 15" rims to throw on for track days.

Re: 18" wheels

The gun metal is like a dark dark silver, nearly black. On your car, I would go with a black rim with a chrome lip (like mine, only black). Black would look best, but gun metal would look badass also.

Well since we're on the topic of rim sizes, does anyone know if I would just HAVE to use 30 profile tires to put 20's on a 2G Eclipse. I Photoshoped a pic of how I want my car. Check it out and let me know what you know?

This is the before pic:

This is the after pic with the top up:

Re: 18" wheels

I have never seen 20''s on an eclipse. I have only seen 19''s and I think you have to roll the fender too.

Re: 18" wheels

I bolted 20"s on my spyder for an hour for shits and giggles. They were 245/35/20's i believe. They were as rough as all hell, and i spent more time looking for potholes on the road in that hour than actually enjoying them. Plus the front tires just graze the front of the wheel well when turning deep.
