94 GA stalled...help!

Hi All,

I have a 94 GA 2.3L engine L4 Vin 3. The car had the coil pack housing cover changed because the car stalled and wouldn't start up last year. In addition, the plugs and boots on the coil cover housing were changed.

Tonight, I was coming home and driving on the parkway, got off, and on the turnpike, the car just died. I tried to start it again, but it just kept cranking, doesn't turn over. My dad came by and checked the voltage of the battery. It was reading 12.70. Enough to start but jumped me anyway. The car started, battery reading at 13.8 volts. Going about 1/2 mile, the car died again. Pulled it over, and tried to jump it again, but nothing. Battery reading was around 12 volts. The car starts, but never turns over. Dad had to push me all the way home.

We looked at the plugs, the plugs are good, changed them anyway. Now, I checked out the coil pack housing cover on the inside, and it looked good. The coil packs look good but I have no idea on how to test them. The last time this happened, the coil pack housing was sorta 'burned' on the inside. I didn't see evidence of this happening again. Too bad the stores are closed now.

Any suggestoins? I'm thinking of changing everything again, coil pack housing, boots, and coil packs. Do you think the coil packs are the culprit this time? Thanks for your help!

Andy

Ya know, it almost sounds like battery connections, starter solenoid connects, or alternator not pushing amps out. Maybe one of the other members will have a better idea about your prob.
