Hey Guys

How is everyone?

Just thought I should start posting to get to know people for my future questions and answers

I have a 04' Cavalier with a 2.2 Ecotec. 4 Door...Yes I know..most people say I should have gotten a 2 door. But everyone has a 2 door. I like to be different. lol.... Its a great car but it doesn't move as fast as I would like sometimes. I haven't really done much to it yet. Except for some car audio.

Here are a few things I'm looking to add soon..

CAI
Catback Exhaust
Strut bars
Gunmetal Rims
Headers

and so on

I've been searching the net for awhile to find some good deals. So fast I've noticed most things are expensive.

Do you guys have any suggestions on some websites for parts?
I haven't found to many myself.

Well guys. I'm sure I will see/talk with many of you in the future.

Later Everyone

Bob

Alright guys..

I've been searching the forum and I think I'm going to go with the header and exhaust.

It seems like a lot of people recommend magnaflow. But I noticed they are top dollar$$...

How about pace setter? They are half the price which is good. Since I would have to pay to have it installed.

I haven't looked into the header as much. The cheapest I have found so far is 180. Is that cheap? I'll keep looking before I buy it. This might be a completely stupid question. But do we have one header or two? I've never really played with 4cyl's.

I also want a turbo. But thats going to take some time before I have the money for it. I noticed that they have superchargers for my car. But I really don't want to go that route.

A question about a turbo. I'm not exactly a car guy. I'm just now getting into it. If I was to get a turbo I would I have any reason to get a CAI? Wouldn't the turbo replace that? Since its feeding air to the engine?

If any of the mods I mentioned kinda interfere with another one out please be sure to inform me If thats even possible lol..

Thanks for putting up with all my questions and not knowing Please don't laugh at me to much. I'm only trying to learn!

As far as the header goes, yes, only one. As for the exhaust, I would say go magnaflow. Two of the guys in my car club work for pacesetter and neither one of them would put one of their exhausts on their cars.

No you wouldnt need the CAI on a turbo set up.

Remember one thing when it comes to modding out your car and thats the same thing I was told when I first got into and its something I pass along as well as Im sure many other people do as well....."Speed costs...how fast do you want to go?" and the big mainstay with most things "You get what you pay for." If it looks like its to good to be true chances are...it sucks ass.

As far as websites and such goes I think maybe tonight Im going to post my little black j-body book. I think I have a pretty big selection of different places to pick up j-body items.

Thanks for the reply.

I would like to go with magnaflow. But I don't know if I can due to the cost. I'll keep looking to find something cheaper.

I'm also looking for a good throttle body. So far I've found one with a air intake for around 400. But since I want a turbo I don't think I'll get a CAI. I don't see the reason to spend the money on it when I'll just be selling it down the road.

Meh, my plan is to stay N/A for a while so I can slowly build up better and stronger components so later on down the road when I can get into a turbo or super charger set up my engine can better handle it. I dont like the thought of slamming all that air into a way too stocked out engine.

Its all about hunting around btw. Someone on the org is selling a magnaflow single exit catback exhast brand new for around $200. You just have to be in the right place at the right time for some things.

Hope you're enjoying your '04 cav! Is it a stick or a automatic?
If you are considering modifications check out www.rksport.com they are probably the best resource (unless you been there already). I read your past post about a CAI for $400! That's insane, it must of been a package which included a throttle body, no? You can get a good air intake for around $200 or less. I would also recommend checking out weapon R.

best of luck!

Yeah, he is talking about the throttle body upgrade kit that comes with the 62mm throttle body and the short ram set up. Frankly Im beyond happy with my 62mm TB. felt a big improvment with the butt dyno and if you remove the intake while doing spring engine cleaning and give her some pedel man that sound kicks ass. Makes me feel all tingly like when I climb the ropes in gym class.

Where is the org? Is it a subforum on here or another website all together?

My Cavalier is a Auto...I really am enjoying it.

I'll keep searching for the magnaflow exhaust. I'll probably just order the header and keep it around till I get the exhaust and just do it as one project. How hard is it to take the manifold off and replace it with the header? It looked like it wouldn't be that hard.

What order do you guys think I should do the upgrades in? It really doesn't matter to me aslong as they happen. But since all/most of you guys have been where I am now I would like some advice.

I'll post some pics of the car a little later. I would like to get some 19's for my car. Something in gunmetal. Then I could sell my old rims. How much do stock Cavalier rims go for?

Those are the rims.

Eric rembolt? He's the only one i know off JBO who works there. Alot of the other companies out there stole pace setter's design so that goes and tells you somthing. like OBX and their 4-2-1 stole their old design and their stainless steel isn't a very good grade or very thick.. So i am very pleased with what i got from pace setter.
