Angry Aussie BS becomes an artform in Hot 4s this month

/rant

I thought I might grab Hot 4s and Rotaries this month. In the newsagency, I flip it open to see an article on a SiR CRX listed. Cool. I flip to the page and am immediately struck by one glaring fact. The car might be an import, but it sure as hell isn't an EF8.

Pretty obvious when it has a Si Bonnet with cam hump and Si lights and a square hole in the bonnet so that the B16A will fit in/poke through. Plus (apparently), it's a glasstop. As far as I know, the SiR CRX was never a glasstop. No instrument binacle shots, but it sure as hell looks like someone is full of shit.

I have no time for liars in this world, and the owner of this car is full of shit. Nice red SiR badge on the bonnet (!) is the same as I've seen advertised in mags and isn't authentic and there is a distinct lack of anything except for body kit shots really.

Second time this mag has done this to my knowledge - last time it was a LHD EG SiR from the states

Weird how Fast 4s featured an EF8 and got it right

Anyway, yes it did piss me off when magazines have no clue and tend to listen to the BS that owners sprout.

/end rant

Yeah, but do you think every mororing hourno working for those magazines knows every car backwards? You are suggesting that they independantly verify the claims made by the owners. And you know how full of Shit some modified car owners are/can be.

lol - yeah, I know It just pisses me off.

Actually, I can tolerate a lot, but not dishonesty. It's one of those things that really annoys the hell out of me.

The thing is, the car would be ok, but it is tarnished by the idea that someone had to lie about it. Same as the times I've seen supposed B16A powered CRXs in the same mag, but no engine shots. When I saw one of the cars in real life and chatted to the owner he strung me a line about its VTEC power - pity it only had a D16AZ (ZC) in it. Yet the same mag has done articles about the different Honda engines.

Oh well, I'm over it now - just really bugged me and makes me wonder what else slips past the journos.

Public = can be wankers (I think I demonstrated that the other day)
Journos = Can also be wankers and if you don't need any qualifications to become one - like at Rot4s - then even more likely.

Setanta: Just thought I'd mention, the CR-X SiR did come with the option for glass top, there are quite a few running around here in NZ, (real SiR's that is)
here are a couple of pics of one, i dug up from a japanese site

but other than that it sounds like that story is full of crap, you'd expect them to do at least a little bit of research before publishing something like that.
hmm

Cool - I was uncertain if that was the case or not as Honda don't really list the glasstop option and I've only seen it twice, once on an Si in a wrecking yard and once as a twin-carbed CRX.

One more to add to the knowledge bank

I know a place near by my home, where there is a warehouse full or Jap CRX cuts...thats where we got the engine for Lang's old GL civic. If I recall correctly there were some glasstops in there as well.

Hmmm... the glasstops look nice - one of those cars I wouldn't mind owning. Not to mention the fact that I've always liked the CRX from day one - it has to one of the prettiest little cars around.

Maybe one day...

CRX's have always been one of my favourite cars.....Hmmm...wouldn't mind owning one too....but perhpas we'd need the 7 car garage first considering there is the City Turbo which will soon be occupying the other garage spot.

I was riding in the passenger side of the CRX with the Type R swap today. Its at my cousins place. The owner is in Japan looking for Mugen stuff too bad the exhaust sounds quite loud from inside, and lots of little rattles, because the back has been stripped.
