thinking about buying this car, but something doesn't sound right

i was looking on autotrader and came across a 91 hatch that has a 95 DOHC VTEC engine. so to find out what exact engine is under the hood, i sent the dude an email and he just said a 95 DOHC VTEC engine mated to a stock tranny with 150,000 miles on it. now i figure this engine has to either be a b16a or a b18c1. but i don't think any of those two can be mated to the stock tranny...right?

most likely it just has a ZC in it and he thinks it has VTEC or something. The ZC WILL bolt up to the stock tranny...No B series motors will bolt up to the D seires tranny.

maybe he coulda meant it was mounted ont he stock tranny for the 95 del sol? i dunno maybe just a mix up on words, if that mix up is right then you have a b16a3 on your hands but that doesn't sound to economical putting one of those in a 4th gen compared to a cable a1.

he says that it's a 95 DOHC VTEC engine though, who knows, im not going to buy it just cause this guy is obviously off his rocker and doesn't know what he's talking about.

91 hatch

I say go take a look at it and read the stamp on the block, if you can get there. Then you will know exactly what it is. More than likely, the guy doesn't know what DOHC means and it is really a SOHC in a 91 civic. I have to agree that no B series would ever mount to a D-series tranny.
