Voyager rear brakes

I am trying to replace the rear brake shoes on my 1998 Voyager. I can't get the drums off. I have turned the adjusting wheel and the wheel turns freely.

Re: Voyager rear brakes

I had the same problem with mine when I changed them on a 97. I would spray some lubricant around the center and the wheel studs. Then get a bigger hammer or a puller and they should come off. Sometimes brute force is the only way to get these things off.

I just had the same problem with the wifes 98 Grand Voyager. Here's what I did. Backed the adjuster off. Laid under the van. took a 5lb hammer, tapped the bottom of the drum. rotated it 90 degrees, did it again. I did rhat a few times, & the drum started to come free. There was rust around the center hub. After I got the drum off, I cleaned all the brake hardware, & cleaned the center hub. Nice & shiny now. I also took some 320 grit sandpaper to the inside of the drum where it sits against the hub, Sanded it clean, & put it back on.
