Advice on buying a 1988 M5
Hi,
I'm thinking of purchasing 1988 M5 with 110,000 miles on it. It looks to be in great condition except for the usual: worn out drivers seat, cracked dash, a touch of rust under the trunk lid. I'm planning to take it to a well-regarded BMW mechanic in my area to get it checked out. My question is: what things typically go wrong with these cars at this mileage and age that I should be on the lookout for? I want to make sure I know what I'm getting into! I'm sorry if the question is too basic for this forum. Thanks for any help you can provide. Best, T |

Re: Advice on buying a 1988 M5
one problem i would worry about is the transmission, because m5 are sporty cars and people tend to drive them hard and fast. check if the transmission runs properly.
