1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited wont start or turn over at all

Please help! My jeep wont start or turn over even after buying a new battery , I was wondering if it had to do with the alarm system as the headlights were flashing after I reattached to old battery. How would I go about disabling the alarm to find out if I need to elimate it as battery problems, or a bigger problem. (when we tried to attach a new battery sparks started from the positive indicating something wrong)

hello there, recently i purchased a manual which it belonged to the dealership, of course very cheap, about the security system and it's about your year, well, i found that opening your door with key deactivates the alarm or opening your trunk with the key also, i don't think you have a problem with your alarm itself, i would like to have more information, does your car try to crank and doesn't start? did you place the old battery instead the new one?

Sparks started coming out, seems like you are grounding out to something. As for the alarm goes I got tired of my alarm going off for no reason so I just took it to the shop and had that factory alarmed disconnected ( eliminated ) and put in an After-market alarm. About the sparks in my problem was because of my sound system. I had a bad CAP and it drained my battery.

Good Luck.

does the check engine light come on as soon as you turn the key to ON position?, had you tried to start it on neutral?

the check engine light comes on as normal when i turn the key. and it wouldnt start on neutral, we replaced the ignition cylinder (it had a piece broke off of it, although we never found the broke off piece) so now were thinking it could be the electrical box the cylinder slids into, possibly the piece got lodged in there. but what we really need to know is how long the rod is in the steering column because we think it may be broke, or does it have a mechanism in it that would prevent a problem in the ignition to go that far in the column?

had you changed the starter relay located in the power distribution center box, near to the battery, under the hood? .. also you can trace the starter cable from the starter to a place behind the battery, and under the power distribution center, it has a RELAY TOO, try to change it, i will post you some pictures about this part

thanks for your response found out that it was the ignition and the electrical box that it slids into ($85) and I'm on the road again!
