hi all
wondering if anyone has had any experience with a 3.8l spitting out a P0442 code - evaporative emmission control system leak detected (small leak). started last summer, tried the gas cap, checking for split hoses, purge canister and solenoid, and then, magically, as the cold weather came in, the cel went away (after clearing it) and stayed off until a month ago, with the warmer weather. any help appreciated. also, abs light on, any suggestions on common faults or other recommendations with this system appreciated.

ABS light....Check brake fluid level....
ABS light comes on if it is just slightly off the full line.

that was the first thing i checked, ok. one thing i forgot to mention was that lately, once in a while the brakes pulse as if the abs was being actuated, on dry pavement.

Dirty wheels sensors can cause ABS light. You can clean the rears by removing the sensors from the back. (It didn't fix mine though).

hi all
just following up on an abs light fault. turns out it was a c1141 fault, cracked toothed ring on the drivers side. to remedy the problem, the entire drivers side axle assembly had to be changed out. the mechanic said that fix was same price as changing the outer cv joint (which the toothed ring is part of) and boot. remanufactured axle $280 (incl core charge), diagnostic charge $55, labour $65. thankfully i had a beer to cry into when i came home!
