Torque converter
Can anyone tell me where I could locate the Torque Converter Cutoff on a 92 Grand AM Quad 4. I believe that is what it is called. My car is stalling as soon as it gets too hot and only stalls when in driving gear, Neutral and park are fine, shift anywhere else it stalls.....leave it for about 20 mins and it starts right up.

Welcome to the forum scott. From what you said, I'm not sure if that's your problem. It actually sounds like it might be your fuel pump - bad fuel pumps overheat after a while, and could stall, especially when shifting, and then they cool off and start working again after a while of the vehicle being off. However, if is your TCC, I believe it's located directly ontop of the bellhousing. It's got four prongs I believe, and I think it's blue. I would wait for someone to verify this though, I don't own a 2.4. There's plenty of other guys around here though that should reply soon. Good luck.

A fuel pump would stop working when it got hot no matter what. It wouldnt matter what gear your in. So yes it does sound like the TCC to me. In your car its either the 2.5 or 2.3 right? Well i have a 2.4 and its simple. You need to remove the air intake tube, and right there you'll see a connector right on the bellhousing. Thats the one your looking for.

1) What the heck does the Bell housing look like 2) What does the TCC look like?

The bell housing is part of the transmission case. It's called a bell housing because if you stand the transmission on end that's exactly what the transmission would like-a bell, more so on an actual transmission than on an a transaxle like on our cars. It is the part of the case that bolts to the engine and it houses the/protects the torque converter or clutch in the case of manuals. You can't see the lock up clutch without removing the transaxle.

All I am looking for is the solenoid wire.....I was told that if I disconnect that, the stalling would stop and I could drive it to a garage.....as is I can't get to far. I was told that it is just a little plug with 4 or 5 wires on it, and it can just be unplugged.
