Does size make you significant?
I just saw an ad in the newspaper that really annoyed me.
It said “Fashion for the Significant Woman”. It was for a clothing store for women size 16 and above. Does this mean that just because me and millions of other women are smaller than a size 16 that we’re insignificant??? Don’t know why, but it really bugged me for some reason.

For 'significant woman' read 'woman who is paranoid about being called fat'.
I am FAT. FAT. FAT. If people could just accept that this is increasingly the norm in the over-nourished and under-exercised western world,we would all feel a lot better about ourselves. 'Significant' woman may sound better than 'fat' woman but the scales tell the same story to both! |
