Re: 3.3 1992 grand am
The 3.3 is a workhorse. If there are no problems with the engine, then I would deffinately buy it. If it's in good shape, it's still got quite a while before it will start having problems. A 92 grand am, with a 3.3 (assuming there's no problems / issues) = good buy in my opinion.

i have a 92 grand am gt with a 3300 and the engine has been nothing but good to me. i have also been told by a few mechanics that it is a very strong and dependable engine. my grand am has about 135,XXX and the engine sounds great accompanied by the original tranny. just a tip of advice, i bought mine in the summer and when fall came along i found out that the heater core was blown! since the weather is still a bit cold now you should check this out just to make sure. i think you/your dad will be happy if you buy it. good luck!!

Re: 3.3 1992 grand am
depending on the current state of maintanance items (filters, plugs, wires, pcv valve, stuff like that) it will vary, but I would say about 18 to 20 in the city, and about 26 to 28 on the highway. Just remember, the biggest factor is how you drive it. Try not to rev it above 2500 rpm, and avoid hard braking.
