I have a 1990 Camry. The problem started yesterday. The Shift Level lock on me. I have to push the Override Shift Level in order to shift the drive into R, D, 2, or L. Does anyone know why?
Thank You |

You need to press the brake to shift out of Park. Maybe the switch that tells the computer your pressing the brake is bad.
Just a thought Andy |

You probably need to replace the neutral switch to the tranny.
From what you're describing, there seems to be a short somewhere.

Re: 1990 Camry Shift Level Lock on me.
it prolly is the neutral safety switch.... you can get them from a junk yard for around 60 because they make you buy the tranny with them...otherwise you are looking around 200-300 for a new one from the dealer...find a local mechanic and talk to him....he will probubly get one from a junk yard for you
